Motion Flashcards
On a distance-time graph, what do a horizontal line and a steep sloping line show?
H: Stationary - not moving
SS: Constant fast speed
What is velocity?
Speed in a given direction, even if the object stays the same speed, if it moves direction, it’s velocity has changed.
If an object’s velocity has changed we can say it has…
Accelerated
A = v-u/t what does this stand for and what are the units
A - Acceleration (velocity) in m/s2
V - Final velocity in m/s
U - Start velocity in m/s
T - Time in seconds
If an object is slowing down, what does that mean?
It is decelerating, so a negative acceleration value is given
In a velocity - time graph what does a horizontal and steep slope show?
H: Constant velocity - no acceleration
SS: It is accelerating or decelerating
How to calculate the gradient of a line on dis and velo
How to calculate the distance travelled on a velo graph
Grad: Change in y/change in x in either m/s or m/s2
Dist: Area under the graph
