Moses Flashcards
Moses was not yet ready. Why?
Well, he had possessed much training from the court of the Egyptians. He had poise. He had confidence, ability to command, but he needed to be trained by Jehovah. He needed to generate and develop patience, meekness. He would face discouragement, disappointment and problems as he shepherded a great nation. Learning to wait definitely needed to be developed in him to a higher degree. And it was while tending sheep for 40 years that Moses developed these qualities. In fact, so much so the account at Numbers 12:3 shows that Moses developed outstanding meekness. Also, he developed patience, calmness, and that enabled him, it set him on a course to be able to be a loving shepherd for the next 40 years.
Moses Started Serving
at What Age?
Though Jehovah had corrected Moses, Moses did not beg off due to old age, “even though he was 80. Forty years later, at the age of 120 years, Moses still had full vigor and alertness. During his 40 years in Midian, Moses had had much time to meditate, and he had come to see the mistake he had made in trying to deliver the Hebrews on his own initiative. He now realized his own inadequacy.”
