Alternating air mattress
Air mattress that is placed on top of a regular bed mattress; used to promote skin integrity and prevent skin breakdown, has air-filled channels that alternately fill and empty to keep bearing weight off bony prominences of immobilized or weak patients who are unable to shift their weight frequently.
Bed Cradle
a frame placed over a bed to prevent sheets or blankets from touching the patient

Footboard
a board or open box placed at the end of a patient’s bed and at a level above the top of the mattress to prevent the weight of the top sheet and blankets from resting on the feet. It is situated so that the soles of the feet are positioned firmly against the board with the legs at right angles to it. Its purposes are to help the bedridden patient retain normal posture and prevent footdrop.
