Flippant
lacking proper respect or seriousness. associated with the impatience of the youth.
Evocative
“suggests” meanings other than the denotative meaning. Connects with the emotions, not associated with the actual meaning of a word

reversal of the normal order of the words/phrases
apposition
grammatical construction in which 2 elements are placed side by side, with one element serving to identify the other in a different way
didatic
refers to forms of lit. that are ostentatiously dull & erudite
conceit
2 vastly diff objects are likened together with the help of similes/metaphors

main clause/predicate is at the end of the sentence.

paradox
appears to be self-contradictory or silly but may include a latent truth. used to illustrate an opinion or statement contrary to traditional ideas
EX) I must be cruel to be kind.
Irony
words that are used to intend a different meaning & also used when a situation ends up differently then expected
paraenthesis
qualifying or explanatory sentence, clause, or word that writers insert to provide extra info
sardonic
grimly mocking, sarcastic, satirical, mocking in a humorous manner
satire
technique by writers to expose and criticize foolishness and corruption of an individual or a society by using humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule
polemical
relating to or involving strongly critical, controversial, or disputatious writing or speech
