Limited Government
Govt. has to follow laws too. Laws govern, not individuals
Natural Rights
Rights you’re born with, (Life, liberty, and property), unalienable/inalienable.
Social Contract
Individuals give their consent for the govt. to rule over them; they protect your rights, you follow the law.
Participatory Democracy
Broad participation in politics and civil society. Election day, town hall meetings, ballot measures
Pluralist Democracy
Group based activism by nongovernmental interests striving for impact on political decision making. Interest groups, lobbyists
Hyper Pluralism
Theory of groups being too big/strong that the government becomes weakened - exaggerated, extreme, perverted form of pluralism.
Elite Democracy
Emphasizes limited participation in politics and civil society
