More Flashcards
What is physiology?
Study of the function of body parts
What are the subdivisions of anatomy
Gross Anatomy and microscopic anatomy
What are the two types of lipids of the plasma membrane
Phospholipid and cholesterol
What are the proteins of the plasma membrane?
•Marker Molecules
•Attachment proteins
•Channel proteins
•Receptor proteins
•Enzymes
•Carrier proteins
Marker molecules function?
Involved with cell to cell recognition
Attachement proteins function?
Attach cells to other cells
Channel proteins function?
Transport substances in and out of a cell
Receptor proteins function?
Contain binding sites that can attach to specific substances
Enzymes function?
Catalyze (speed up) chemical reactions on either the inner or outer surface of the plasma membrane
Carrier proteins function?
Move substances (ions or molecules) from one side of the plasma membrane to the other
