Celebrates the arrival of the New Year. Many different traditions, such as firecracker lighting and La Medianoche.
Carnaval
The festivity before Lent, occurring in February or March. Festivities include dancing and costumes.
Las Fallas
A weeklong festival in the city of Valencia Spain in March. Festivities include music, flowers, and ninots, giant wooden figures.
Semana Santa
A huge celebration lasting anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. Includes religious processions and colored rugs.
Cinco de Mayo
A national holiday symbolizing Mexican unity
Inti Raymi
“Festival of the sun”. A June holiday celebrating the winter solstice.
Día de Simón Bolivar
A June holiday celebrating Simón Bolivar, who worked for South America’s independence from Spain
