Why is bowlbys theory described as monotropy??
As he placed great emphasis on a child’s attachment to one particular caregiver
What did bowlby believe?
That the child’s child’s attachment to one particular caregiver is different and more important than others
What did bowlby all this person ?
The mother, not always biological
What did bowlby believe ?
The more time spent with the primary attachment figure-the better
What did he put forward to clarify this?
Two principles
What WA the first principle?
The law of continuity stated that the more constant and predictable a child’s care, the better the quality of there attachment
What was the second principle?
The law of accumulated separation stated that the effects of everyday separation from the mother add up ‘and the safest dose is therefore a zero dose’
