Monocular Depth Flashcards
What interprets information from the rods and cones
Visual cortex
Once the info from the rods and cons goes through the optic chiasma where does it then go
To the visual cortex
What is the optic chiasma
Where the information from the left and right eye crosses over at a point called the optic chiasma

What is superimposition
A partly hidden object must be further away than the object covering it
What is relative size
Smaller objects are perceived as further away than larger ones. A closer object makes a bigger image on the retina than a distant one
What is linear perspective
Parallel lines appear to converge (meet) in the distance it is when the real world never meets they stay the same distance apart
Height in plane what is it
Objects closer to the horizon are perceived to be more distant than ones below or above the horizon. In general things lower in the scene are closer those which are higher up are further away
What is texture gradient
An are with a detailed pattern is perceived to be nearer than one with less detail close up a textual surface is very detailed. From further away the texture is less clear
