monitoring Flashcards
1
Q
ECG - where
-what measuring?
A
- L&R arm, left chest wall
- HR and rhythm
2
Q
what are we looking for on ecg
A
tachy - light anaesthesia, drug reaction, hypovolameia, heart failure
- bradycardia - hypoxia, suxamethonium, vagal reflexes
- artyhmias from fluid shift, MI, electrolyte distrubances
3
Q
Wht to do if MI
A
-normalise BP, improve oxygenation, administer glyceryl trinitrate
4
Q
capnography
how and what it measures
A
- measures exhaled CO2, measure by infrared light - amount of light absorbed is dependent on conc of co2
- detection of correct placement, adequacy of ventilation, malignant hyperpyrexia, detection of air or other embolism
5
Q
pulse oximetry
A
- measure and monitor oxygen saturations in the blood
- wavelenghts of light through and measures amoutnt of light absorbed
- amount of oxy and deoxy-haemoglobin present
