Monday - Severson - development of kidneys Flashcards
other name for mesonephric duct
Wolffian duct
mesonephric duct makes what structure structures in males
ductus deferens
seminal vesicle
epididymis
The mesonephros (pre-kidney) grows from what
ureteric bud
- grows into the intermediate mesoderm
branching and development of the ureteric bud
bud –> renal pelvis –> major calyx –> minor –> collecting tubules
the nephron (capsule, proximal, distal and loop) are derived from what
the metanephric mesoderm (not the mesonephric duct)
initial location of kidneys. how does that change especially in relation to vascular supply
start deep pelvis - body grow but they stay - first supplied from common iliac but as the move up, new vessels keep forming and old ones degenerate
this means you may have multiple renal arteries
single umbilical artery may mean what
one kidney didn’t develop
pelvic kidney
it’s still down by the bladder and fed from the iliac still
horseshoe kidney is blocked by what
inferior mesentaric artery
possible complications of multiple renal arteries
Hydronephros - arteries are blocking the kidney from emptying
also, if it has multiple arteries, you’re not a candidate for transplants. It’s all yours. keep it.
multicystic kidney disease vs. polycystic
multi - it’s dilations of the thin segment of collecting duct
urorectal septum
it’s mesoderm that divides the cloaca into septum and urogenital sinus
what connects the bladder to the umbillical cord
the allantois
3 parts of the urogenital sinus
vessicle part - forms bladder, continuous with allantois
pelvic part - becomes neck of bladder and urethra
phallic part - in males this grows into penile urethra
formation of the urogenital trigone
so the mesonephric duct come out of the bladder –> then the ureter (uteric bud) comes of the duct. becomes its own duct and comes out of bladder.
then the mesonephric ducts descend to bottom of badder
