momentum Flashcards
what is momentum and how is it calculated
Momentum depends on the mass of an object and its velocity. It can be calculated using this equation:
momentum=mass×velocity
The unit of momentum is kg × m/s = kg m/s.
momemntum is aaaaaaa
vector quantity
it has size and direction
how to find force
force= change in momentum/time
safety features
This can also be explained in terms of momentum; crumple zones and air bags increase the time it takes to stop a passenger in a collision. The momentum changes over an increased time, meaning the force acting to stop the passenger is smaller.
the law of conservation
the total momentum before and after an interaction are equal, provided that no external forces are acting on the objects.
