Moles = Mass/RFM
What is the equation for percentage yield?
Actual/Theoretical x 100
What is the equation with moles, volume and 24dm cubed?
Volume = Moles x 24dm
What is the equation for concentration with moles and volume?
Concentration = Moles/Volume
How do you get from dm to cm?
divide by 1000
What type of pipette is used in the titration method?
Volumetric Pipette - measures 25cm cubed
What does the burette do in the titration method?
Measures any volume to nearest 0.05cm cubed
What does the volumetric pipette measure?
The unknown alkali

Phenolphalien or Methyl Orange
Why is Universal Indicator not used?
Changes colour too gradually
What will you do with the burette?
Fill with a known acid and hold above the conical flask
What will you be measuring before and after the experiment?

Drop by drop then swirl
When will you know when the reaction is done and the alkali is neutralised?
When the indicator spreads fully and remains the colour: eg pink.
