Mole Concept Flashcards
Given number of particles, find moles
Number of moles= number of particles/avogadro’s constant
What is avogadro’s constant?
6x10^23
Given mass of one substance, find number of moles
Number of moles=mass of one substance/molar mass(Mr)
Given volume of gas, find number of moles
Number of moles= volume of gas(dm3)/molar volume at rtp, which is 24
Convert cm3 to dm3
Divide by 1000
Convert one litre to dm3
1 dm3= 1litre
Convert ml to dm3
Divide by 1000
Given number of moles and volume of solution, find molar concentration
Molar concentration= number of moles/volume of solution
Given mass of solute, and volume of solution, find mass concentration
Mass concentration=mass of solution/volume of solution
Given mass concentration, find molar concentration
Molar concentration=mass concentration/molar mass(Mr)
Given mass of solute and volume of solution, find molar concentration.
- Find mass concentration by:
Mass of solute/volume of solution. - Find molar concentration:
Mass concentration/molar mass
What is empirical formular?
Simplest ratio of atoms of different elements present.
How to derive at empirical formular?
- Write out the mass given or percentage mass
- Write their Ar below
- Find the amount/mol.(mass/Ar)
- divide by the smallest result from 3.
- Find the ratio with smallest whole numbers
