cornice
a molding at the corner between the ceiling and the top of a wall
crown molding
trim placed where the wall and ceiling meet. Also called bed molding.
picture rail
rail fixed to a wall for hanging pictures
chair rail
molding placed at the usual height of a chair back to protect the wall from damage
casing
the enclosing frame around a door or window opening
paneling
a panel or section of panels in a wall or door
baseboard
The finish board covering the interior wall where the wall and floor meet
shoe molding
Quarter round trim applied at the bottom of baseboard where it meets the floor. It is typically rounded and is a bit taller than it is wide.
wainscoting
wooden panel used to line the walls of a room
quarter round
A molding whose profile resembles a quarter of a circle.
half round
A molding with its end section in the shape of a semicircle.
cove
a small inlet
ogee
a double curve, like an elongated letter S.
dowel rod
A slender rod placed inside the fabric pocket to raise or lower a shade.
