Height gains of 3 inches a year and weight gains of 5 lbs a year.
When does binocular vision develop?
Shortly after 12 months of age. It should be 20/20 to 20/40
What happens to appetite in toddlers?
It slows around 12-18 months. Decrease in caloric intake required.
When a toddler’s appetite decreases, what is this called?
Physiologic Anorexia
How many baby teeth do toddlers have?
~20 by 2.5-5 years of age
What are the stages of Separation Anxiety?
Protest, Despair, Detachment. Despair is when a chid appears sad, hopeless, withdrawn, acts ambivalent when the parents return. Detachment is where the child appears happy, interested in environment and becomes attached to staff members; may even ignore parents when they return.
How are “the preschool years” defined? (what age range)
3-6 years.
