What is a lesson plan?
A
A lesson plan is a framework for a lesson that sets out what the learners will achieve (the aims) and how they will be achieved.
Your lesson plan will guide you (and your learners) through the lesson stages step-by-step in order for them to meet the set aim of the lesson.

Why is lesson planning important?
A
- To identify the aims of the lesson.
- It gives the teacher the opportunity to predict possible problems that may arise and to consider solutions to these problems.
- It helps to make sure that the lesson is balanced and appropriate for the class.
- It will give the teacher confidence going into the classroom.

What are some considerations to think of when putting together a lesson plan?
A
- Is there a good balance of activities?
- Is there time left over at the end of the lesson?
- Do you have a filler activity ready?
- Do you have a warmer activity?
- Is there a range of skills used?
- Is it an engaging lesson?
- Is it gaged at the right level?
- Is there a good variation of pace?
- Is there logical progression throughout?
- Can learners see the reasoning for what they are doing?
- Will the students learn something?
- Will they enjoy the lesson?
- Does it build on prior learning?
- Does it offer new areas of knowledge?
