to be able to alarm caregivers when a patient is in a critical situation and is in need of help
communication is very important

What is being monitored, summary
A
ECG, voltage as skin with electrodes for heart rate
oxygen saturation
NIRS or with light pulse oximetry
temperature measured with thermistors
respiration frequency measured with ECG chest impediance
blood pressure
- invasive and non invasive methods

Alarm dilemma
A
if you have a tight limit than possibly you will have quite some false alarms
If you have a wide limit then you probably miss alarms
