Module 6 Part 2 ( Telecommunications) Flashcards
are the way of transmitting of information over a distance by electronic means. details can take the form of voice calls, data, email, picutres, or video.
Telecommunications
5 components of telecommunications
- terminals
- computers
- telecommunications link
- telecommunications equipment
- telecommunications software
the mode of transmission is the transfer of data between two computers. also known as a mode of communication.
Computer Network Transmission Modes
3 types of transmission mode
- simplex mode
- half duplex mode
- full duplex mode
the data is only distributed in one way, from one device to another.
Simplex Mode
both forms can be conducted in this mode transmission, which means that if two devices are linked to this mode, both can transmit and receive data, but not at the same time.
Half Duplex Mode
the linked devices will both send and receive data simultaneously in this mode. an example of this is the cellphone we use.
Full Duplex Mode
a network of computers consists of software and hardware used to transmit and retrieve data from one device to another.
Computer Network Models
3 main components of a computer network model
- Sender
- Receiver
- Carrier
2 types of computer network modes
- Open System Interconnection Model (OSI Model)
- Transmission Control Protocol Model (TCP/IP Reference Model)
it determines how the data is sent to another computer from one computer.
Open System Interconnection Model (OSI)
7 layers of OSI Model
- Physical Layer
- Data Link Layer
- Network Layer
- Transport Layer
- Session Layer
- Presentation Layer
- Application Layer
used to execute protocols over the network.
Transmission Control Protocol Model (TCP/IP Reference Model)
4 layers of TCP/IP Reference Model
- Network Access Layer
- Internet Layer
- Transport Layer
- Application Layer
