What does mental health encompass?
Psychological, emotional, and physical well-being, as well as our social interactions, decision-making, and overall our life on a daily basis.
Types of Mental Disorders?
- Anxiety disorders
- Mood disorders
- Impulse-control disorders
- Substance use disorders
What is Mental Illness?
Mental illness refers to any diagnosable mental disorders that result in abnormal thinking, mood, or behavior. Among the most common of these are anxiety and mood disorders.
What is stress in mental health?
Stress is a physical, chemical, or emotional factor that causes bodily or mental tension and may be a factor in disease causation.
Contrary to popular belief, stressors are not always negative. For example, major life events like graduation and weddings can be stressful but ultimately positive for the individual experiencing the stress.
Psychotherapy
Involves a therapist using a range of techniques to help a patient overcome troubles, gain insight, and achieve personal growth.
