Typical solider? and working conditions in continental Army?
typical soilder- Young, usually under 16, little money or property. Working conditions- bad, low pay, chance of casualty.
Role of African American and women in army?
African Americans fought in ca, women were messengers, nurses, raised money for supplies, and made clothing.
difference between battle of Trenton, Princeton and Saratoga?
battle of trenton-on Christmas 1776, major patriot victory.
Battle at princeton- Jan 2 1777, patriots lost, army and American revolution saved. battle of saratoga- October 1777, patriot victory, turning point of revolutionary war
how did France and lafayette help the Continental Army.
Lafayette-brought well trained soldiers, volunteered to serve for ca for free and France brought ships.
why were there concerns about the Continental Army in Nov. 1776?
tattered Continental Army on the run- 6000 men left.
why was the winter at valley forge significant?
they were low on supplies, food and people were dying.
why and how did the British attack the south?
british freed slaves and inlisted them as soilders- destroyed crops, farms and killed those who tried to surrender.
what is Guerilla Warfare? why is it helpful to the patriots?
a swift hit and run attack, used surprise attacks to disrupt British helping the patriots.
How did British go from winning the war to loosing at Yorktown?
british held most of the south, then patriots took largest British army
what were the terms of the treaty of Paris?
set America’s boarder, British had to respect America’s rights.
