Module 4: Electric and magnetic fields Flashcards
Electric field strength
Force per unit positive charge.
Magnetic flux
Magnetic flux = magnetic flux density X cross-sectional area (BA)
Weber
1Wb = 1Tm^2
Magnetic flux linkage
The product of magnetic flux and the number of turns.
Faraday’s law of electromagnetic induction
The magnitude of the induced e.m.f. is equal to the rate of change of magnetic flux linkage.
Lenz’s law
Any induced current or induced e.m.f. will be established in a direction so as to produce effects which oppose the change producing it.
Coulomb’s law
Any two point charges exert an electrical force on each other that is proportional to the product of their charges and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them.
