What is an ecosystem?
An interaction between living things with each other and with their non-living environment.
Define Abiotic
The non-living features of an ecosystem
Define biotic
The living features of an ecosystem
What is intraspecific competition?
Members of the same species compete for limited resources.
What is interspecific competition?
A form of competition between different species.
Define mutualism
both species in the relationship benefit from the association.
Define commensalism
one species benefits and the other is unaffected.
Define parasitism
one species benefits and the other suffers (usually) non-lethal damage.
What are the simplest interactions between species?
Competition, predation and symbiosis.
what is a niche?
All the abiotic and biotic resources that a species uses.
No two species can occupy a niche
