Module 4 Flashcards
Batch analysis
The same test is performed simultaneously on a group or batch of patient samples
Sequential analysis
Each specimen in a batch enters the analytical process one after the other, and each result or set of results emerges in the same order as samples are entered
Simultaneous analysis
More than one analysis is performed on a sample at the same time
Discrete analysis
Each sample: reagent mixture is held in its own reaction vessel and is, therefore, physically separated from all other samples during analysis.
Random access analysis
Any sample, by a command to the processing system, can be analyzed for any of the available analytes in or out of sequence with the other samples and without regard to their initial order.
Discretionary analysis
The operator can select or program the instrument to perform only those tests requested.
