Mill’s Methods of Determining Causation
A
- Common factor - looking for a single shared factor
- Single difference - looking for one factor that is present in one situation but absent in another
- Concomitant variation - looking for a pattern to establish cause and effect
- Process of elimination - ruling out non causal factors until one remains
