What is a value?
A principle that determines the ways of being and acting that are typical of a person/community
What is a norm?
Something that is taken as a model or a rule (can be legal or social)
What are the three ways parents influence their children’s driving?
Socialization, imitation, and control
Who is a safe driver?
Predicts at-risk situations rather than just reacting, respects rules of the Highway Safety Code, road signs, and traffic signals
Who is a cooperative driver?
Shares the road, respects other users (esp vulnerable), applies rules of courtesy
Who is a responsible driver?
Is aware of his strengths, limitations, and motivations as a driver, plans trips or decides not to drive, refrains from driving when impaired with alcohol, drugs, fatigue, stress
What a learning driver is sanctioned to?
4 demerit points and zero alcohol tolerance
At what time can the learner’s license holder not drive?
From midnight to 5am
How long is the probationary license?
2 years
What are the rules for the probationary license?
Cannot get 4 demerit points, no alcohol. restrictions on the number of passengers for those under 19 for the first year
