MODULE 2 - SCATTER PLOTS Flashcards
1
Q
scatter plot
A
depicts the relationship between two variables on a rectangular coordinate system, where each axis corresponds to one variable. Scatter plots are used for both quantitative and categorical data.
2
Q
regression curve (2)
A
- is a curve added to a scatter plot that shows the relationship between two variables.
- The regression curve predicts the -value for any given -value. However, actual data points are often not on the regression curve.
3
Q
Linear regression
A
is a way to model the linear relationship between two quantitative variables, using a line drawn through those variables’ data points, known as a regression line.
4
Q
Response variable
A
is the variable being modeled or predicted
5
Q
PREDICTOR VARIABLE
A
is the variable used to predict the response.
6
Q
Sum of squared errors
A
is the sum of the squared differences between the Y values of the data points and the values obtained from the regression line.
