- non-steroidal anti-inflamitory drug (NSAID)
- reduces pain, fever, and inflamation
- under 16 CAN NOT take due to risk of Reye’s Syndrom (swelling of brain)
- 300mg for pain releif, 75mg for blood thinner

ibuprofen

- non-steroidal anti-inflamitory drug (NSAID)
- reduces pain fever and inflamation
- must be taken with or after food to prevent damage to stomach lining
paracetamol
oral analgesic
- analgesic acts on brain to reduce pain and fever
- NO anti-inflamitory

naproxin
oral analgesic
- non-steroidal anti-inflamitory drug (NSAID)
- only for treatment of period pain
- take with or after food to avoid indigestion
rubefacient
topical analgesic
- contains methyl salicylate and comphor
- irritates skin to produce a heat feeling
deep heat
cooling preparations

cools the area that is affected
