Why should we reduce inequalities?
- They’re unfair
- They’re avoidable
- They affect everyone
- Reducing inequities can be cost effect
What is social mobility?
The movement if individuals/families/groups between social strata
What is intra-generational social mobility?
Movement of social mobility within and individuals life
What is inter-generational mobility?
Socioeconomic change between a parent and child
What are inequalities?
Measurable differences in health outcome
What are inequities?
They are inequalities which stem from unfair origins eg unequal power
What does the Gini-coefficient represent?
A measure of inequality by looking at income (you have the perfect line of equality)
What the examples/systematic disparities that Maori health is exemplified in?
