What is the purpose of an operating system
Controls all the activities that take place in a computer

Instructions that are stored on ROM chips and they preform basic hardware tests and find and load operating systems

Provides a user interface (GUI), manages programs and hardware, multi tasking and providing basic security

More memory = better performance
Number of programs running in memory affect performance
Cache memory is a high-speed memory used to hold recently or frequently accessed data in order to retrieve it faster
How does a CPU influence the performance of a computer
Higher speed = better performance
Number of cores depends on quality of performance; generally more cores is always better
Larger cache memory will improve performance
GPU can improve performance with certain software
How does hard drive / SDD influence performance of computer
Faster hard drive = better performance
SDD are faster than HDD
How does malware influence the performance of computer
Can slow down computer by using resources such as memory and HDD space
Spyware can slow down internet connection
