Digestion
The process by which an organism breaks down its food into small units which can be absorbed.
Vitamin
A chemical substance that is essential for the normal working of the human body
Small intestine
Where food goes after the stomached where food is broken down chemically and most of the micronutrients and macronutrients are absorbed into the bloodstream through the lining of the small intestine.
Liver
As blood passes through, the liver, one of the largest organs in the body, picks up and stores many of the micronutrients and macronutrients, it cleans the toxins and wastes, makes certain proteins from amino acids absorbed through digestion, and produces bile.
Bile
An essential substance used in the digestion of fats
Gall bladder
Where bile is concentrated and stored, injecting it into the small intestine to digest fats.
Pancreas
Produces other digestive juices and injects them into the small intestine.
Alimentary canal
The sum of all the parts of the digestive system through which food actually passes through. Also called the digestive tract
