A
magnitude 6.2 earthquake, which may have been an aftershock of a magnitude 7 earthquake
- shallow earthquake, 5km underground
- MMVIII: Damage slight in specially designed structures; considerable damage in ordinary substantial buildings with partial collapse. Damage great in poorly built structures. Fall of chimneys, factory stacks, columns, monuments, walls. Heavy furniture overturned.
- 361 aftershocks the week after
