Module 11 Flashcards
A method of dividing the abdomen in to regions. A horizontal line is drawn from left to right through the umbilicus and a vertical line is drawn down the midline of the body; consisting of the right upper and lower quadrants and left upper and lower quadrants
4 region plan
A method of dividing the abdomen into regions. Extend two vertical lines upward from a point midway between the anterior superior iliac spine and the symphysis pubis. Draw two horizontal lines. Creates regions of the right hypochondriac, epigastric, left hypochondriac, right lumbar, umbilical, left lumbar, right inguinal, hypogastric and left inguinal
9 region plan
Two upper regions consisting of the upper third areas of the abdomen on left and right side located on the lateral sides of the abdominal wall inferior to the thoracic cage.
Hypochondriac
Upper central region of the abdomen; located in the middle of the left and right hypochondrium; above the stomach
Epigastric
Located on the lateral regions of the torso; located under the regions of the hypochondrium on the left and right torso
Lumbar
Lower part of the anterolateral region of the abdominal wall; located under the lumbar region on the left and right side; also known as the groin region
Inguinal
Center of the abdomen; contains the navel, or belly button; center point for dividing abdomen into 4 quadrants or the middle section dividing into 9 regions
Umbilicus
Regions of the abdomen located in the center lower section, below the stomach, between the inguinal regions.
Hypogastric
