What did the affordable care act (or Obamacare) do?

A
  • The requirement that employers with fifty or more employees provide health care coverage
  • A universal mandate that people without employer-sponsored coverage obtain insurance for themselves
  • A regulation of private insurance companies have to offer, through state exchanges, plans that won’t deny coverage because of preexisting conditions, won’t kick people off their coverage when they become sick, and can’t cap benefits
