Module 1: The Health Care Team Flashcards
An organization of people, institutions and resources that deliver health care services to meet the health needs of target populations
Healthcare system
What are the two types of healthcare delivery system?
Crisis intervention and Health maintenance or preventive healthcare system
- The patient seeks help only when unable to manage alone
- As soon as the emergency has passed, the former lifestyle is usually resumed
Crisis intervention
attempts to promote well-being, and avoid the need for medical intervention
Encourages a good nutrition, exercise vaccinations and health screening tests, such as mammograms
Health maintenance or preventive healthcare system
Consists of the health professionals with the training and skills needed to provide high-quality coordinated care specific to the patient’s clinical needs and circumstances
Healthcare team
give at least six professionals from the healthcare team
Could be from the following:
physicians, occupational, and physical therapists, pharmacist, nurses, respiratory , laboratory, technologist, social workers, registered, nurses, vocational, nurses, etc.
diagnostic imaging department professionals (9 in order)
Radiologist, radiology manager, physicists,
MRI supervisor, chief, radiographer, CT supervisor,
clerical staff, staff, radiographer, support personnel
members of the medical staff
Serves as a consultant in one or more of the imaging modality in radiology
Must interpret each examination and provide a report to the referring physician
radiologist
supervisors several groups of employees, such as those in general radiography, nuclear medicine, ultrasound, computed tomography (CT) , magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and etc.
Radiology manager
manages the day to day activities in the radiology department
Department coordinator/chief technologist
Lead radiographer
May report directly to the chief radiographer, or to a lead radiographer, or a team radiographer responsible for a given area
staff radiographer
May include administrative assistance, receptionist, biomedical, technologist, equipment, maintenance, engineers, medical, secretaries, and transportation service personnel
Support staff
an enhanced form of x-ray technology is used to measure bone mineral content and density
Bone densitometry
What is the use of sophisticated, fluoroscopic equipment and minimally invasive procedures, to help diagnose and treat heart and blood vessels diseases without surgery?
Cardiac interventional and vascular interventional technology
Diagnostic imaging used to create cross-sectional images of internal organs, bones, soft tissue, and blood vessels
Computed tomography
individuals other than a Radiography, who perform static diagnostic radiographic images on selected anatomical sites
Limited x-ray machine operators
Medical imaging technique that uses a magnetic field and computer generated radio waves to create useful diagnostic images
magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
specialized medical imaging that uses low those extra system to examine breasts
Mammography
what are the two positions used in mammography?
mediolateral oblique and craniocaudal
radiation therapy practitioner, responsible for the production of patients treatment plan and any associated quality assurance components
Medical dosimetry
A specialist area of radiology that uses very small amounts of radioactive materials or radiopharmaceuticals to examine organ function and structure
Nuclear medicine
A member of the healthcare team that focuses on the means to achieve image and service quality to ensure efficient and effective patient care
Quality management
therapeutic radiology, often call, radiation, oncology, or radiation therapy, is the treatment of cancer and other diseases using radiation
Radiation is used to both kill cancer cells and prevent from coming back or multiplying
radiation therapy
used in radiation therapy and is made out of thermoplastic
Conforming mask
used to diagnose or treat patients by recording images of the internal structure of the body to assess the presence or absence of disease, foreign objects, and structural damage or anomaly
Radiography
Is an advance practice, radiologic technologist, who works under the supervision of a radiologist
Their primary role is to enhance patient care by assisting the radiologist with patient assessment, patient management and radiological procedures
radiologist assistant
What are the three anatomical parts involved in bone densitometry?
hip, wrists and lumbar vertebrae
diagnostic medical procedure that uses high frequency, sound waves to produce dynamic visual, images of organs, tissues, or blood flow inside the body
Sonography
