What is the setting for much of the Biblical story?
The ancient Near East (or “ANE”): roughly equivalent to the modern Middle East, and includes the earliest civilizations in that region up to about the 4th century, BCE. Is now the modern states of Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Iran and Turkey.
