A
Found at the beginning of the word and modify the word’s meaning

A
Found at the end of a word and modify the word’s meaning

Word Roots
A
- The foundation of a word that gives it meaning
- Typically describe the part of the body or organ involved
- Usually combined with a vowel at the end (often an “o”)

Rules for using combining form vowels:
A
- A combining vowel is used when the suffix begins with a consonant
- A combining vowel is not used when the suffix already begins with a vowel
- A combining vowel is used when two or more word roots are joined
