A

  • Typically describe the part of the body or organ involved
  • Usually combined with a vowel at the end (often an “o”)

Rules for using combining form vowels:

  1. A combining vowel is used when the suffix begins with a consonant
  2. A combining vowel is not used when the suffix already begins with a vowel
