Module 1 - Introduction to AWS Flashcards
What is a client-server model? (define client and server separately)
In computing, aclient can be a web browser or desktop application that a person interacts with to make requests to computer servers. Aserver can be services such as Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2), a type of virtual server.
What is cloud computing?
The on-demand delivery of IT resources over the internet with pay-as-you-go pricing
What are the three kinds of Cloud Computing models?
Cloud-based, On-premises (private cloud deployment), Hybrid
Explain the cloud-based model
- run all parts of the application in the cloud
- migrate existing applications to the cloud
- design and build new applications in the cloud
Explain the On-premises (private cloud deployment) model
- deploy resources by using virtualisation and resource management tools
- Increase resource utilisation by using application management and virtualisation technologies
Explain the Hybrid model
- connect cloud-based resources to on-premises infrastructure
- integrate cloud-based resources with legacy IT applications
What are the six benefits of cloud computing?
- trade upfront expense for variable expense
- stop spending money to run and maintain data centres
- stop guessing capacity
- benefit from massive economies of scale
- increase speed and agility
- go global in minutes
What is Amazon EC2?
Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud -> a virtual server (barista)
