Module 1 Introduction Flashcards
What is the difference between domains, tasks, and enablers?
Domains are the high-level knowledge areas that are essential for project management.
Tasks are the underlying responsibilities of the PM within each domain.
Enablers are the illustrative examples of the work associated with the task.
What are the three domains?
People, Process, and the Business Environment.
Describe the People domain.
This is the human side of project management.
People management—important to have effective communication and leadership. Build and nurture high-performance teams. Manage conflict and promote collaboration. Motivate and engage team members.
Describe the Process domain.
This is the “how” of project management. Involves your ITTOs (inputs, tools, techniques, and outputs). The technical aspects of project management includes project planning, execution, monitoring, controlling, and closing.
—Project managers should have a grasp of the different project methodologies and select the one that is most appropriate.
—Also need to select and tailor the appropriate project approach. This ensures efficient resource allocation, risk management, and alignment with project goals.
—A well-defined project plan outlines tasks, milestones, and deliverables.
—A good risk management plan will identify potential issues and develop strategies to mitigate them.
Describe the Business Environment.
This domain focuses on the broader organizational context in which projects operate. Understand the strategic alignment of projects with corporate goals, consider regulatory and legal factors, and manage external influences such as market conditions and industry trends.
