Universal health care
Not everyone has coverage for everything, people have access to care, could be funded privately or by the government (Germany)
Single payer system
A type of universal healthcare, funded by taxes, financed so a single person or organization is paying for the services (Canada)
Socialized medicine
Government owns the entity even the physicians and facilities so it’s government owned(VA)
Medicaid
Low income and disabled, state regulates benefits within federal guidelines ~65million
Insurance exchanges
Individuals and small companies ~10million
Employer plans
Company plans ~150million
Medicare
Over 65 and disabled ~65million (~10 million disabled)

Closed and integrated system
Everything under one umbrella, physician, pharmacy etc all usually under 1 building I.e UF Health, Kaiser Permanante and VA
Open system
Everybody else, they contract with any hospital, pharmacy, physician that they want, usually different contracts, a lot of negotiation
Medication use system
