Module 1 Flashcards
What is a physical quantity?
It is a property of an object or phenomenon that can be measured
What are the 7 SI base units?
metre (m), kilogram (kg), second (s), ampere (A), kelvin (K), and mole (mol)
What are derived units?
They can be derived from the base units and the equations relating derived quantities to the base quantities.
What is a scalar quantity?
A measurement which has magnitude but no direction
What is a vector quantity?
A measurement which has a magnitude and a direction
Give an example of a scalar quantity?
Length, mass and time
Give an example of a vector quantity?
displacement, velocity and acceleration
Is power a scalar or vector quantity?
It is a scalar as it only has magnitude and no direction
