What is rape-trauma syndrome? What are the 3 phases?
A
- A human reaction to sexual assault
Acute phase: expressive, controlled, disbelief
Outward adjustment phase: normal appearing behavior masking internal struggle
Resolution phase: assault loses its prominent role in victim’s life. Appropriately assigns blame.
