MODULE 1 Flashcards
is Defined as surrounding that have the conditions for living organism to operate.
ENVIRONMENT
The word Environment is derived from the French Word _______ which means ___________?
‘Environ and Surrounding
Four Natural Environment
Atmosphere, Hydrosphere,Lithosphere and Biosphere
Includes all water bodies such as lakes, ponds, rivers, stream and ocean etc.
Hydrosphere
The earth is a cold spherical solid planet of the solar system, which spins in its axis revolves around the sun at a certain constant distance. Mainly contains soil, earth rocks, mountain etc.
Lithosphere
is the cover of the air, that envelope the earth. it is a thin layer which contains gases like oxygen, carbon dioxide etc.
Atmosphere
otherwise known as the life layer, it refers to all organisms on the earth surface and their interaction with water and air.
Biosphere
FIVE CONCENTRIC LAYERS OF THE ATMOSPHERE
Troposphere
Stratosphere
Mesosphere
Thermosphere
Exosphere
-12 km in Height
-Start at the surface of the earth
-Most of the earth weather happen here
-It contains water vapors 2 other aerosols
-Most Aviation takes place here
Troposphere
- 12 km to 50 km
- Best known as home to Earth ozone layer
- cloud and weather free
- Jet Planes can reach
Stratosphere
- 50 km to 80 km above Earth surface
- one of the coldest place found within the earth system
- Most Meteors burn up this area
- Rocket-Powered aircraft can reach this area
Mesosphere
- 80 km and 700 km above the Earth
- It contains the Ionosphere
- The aurora borealis and aurora australis are sometimes seen here.
Thermosphere
- 700km to 10000km above the Earth
- ## the highest layers of the Earth
Exosphere
- is an interdisciplinary academic field that integrates physical and biological science ( including but no limited to Ecology, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Soil Science, Geology, Atmospheric Science and Geography) to the study of the Environment and the solution of Environmental Problem.
Environmental Science
- Incorporate more of the social sciences for understanding human relationship, perceptions and policies towards the environment
