Q

What are Eukaryotic Cells?

A

Complex cells such as animal and plant cells. They have an organised nucleus with a nuclear envelope. The also have components that make the cell a self sufficient organism.

Q

What is a Lysosome?

A

A round organelle which is surrounded by a membrane. It contains digestive enzymes. This can be used to digest invading cellsor tobreak down worn out components.

Q

Explain the Sturcture of Mitochondria.

A
  • Mitochondria are made of two membranes. The outer membrane contains the organelle like skin and the inner membrane folds over and makes layered structures called cristae.
  • Fluid inside the structure is called the matrix. This is where the Mitochodrion’s DNA and ribosomes float.
  • There are also structures called granules which control the concentrations of ions.
