Module 01 Flashcards
Define Cloud Computing
The delivery of computing services over the internet, enabling faster innovation, flexible resources, and economies of scale.
What are the 4 types of Cloud Computing resources?
Compute
Networking
Storage
Analytics
What are the 3 cloud models?
Public Cloud
Private Cloud
Hybrid Cloud
What is a Consumption-Based model?
end users only pay for the resources that they use.
What is Capital Expenditure (CapEx)?
up-front spending of money on physical Infrastructure
What is Operational Expenditure (OpEx)?
spending on products and services as needed. pay-as-you-go
Describe the Public Cloud model
- No Capital expenditures up front
- Resources can be provisioned quickly
- Pay for what you use
Describe the Private Cloud model
- Hardware must be purchased for start-up (CapEx) and maintenance (OpEx)
- complete control of resources and security
- Responsible for hardware maintenance and updates
Describe the Hybrid Cloud model
- Most flexibility of the 3 models
- Determine where to run each application
- Organizations control security, compliance, or legal requirements
What are the 10 benefits of Cloud Computing?
01 - High Availability 02 - Fault Tolerance 03 - Scalability 04 - Elasticity 05 - Global reach 06 - Customer latency capabilities 07 - Agility 08 - Predictive Cost Considerations 09 - Disaster Recovery 10 - Security
Describe the difference between Vertical Scaling and Horizontal Scaling
Vertical - increasing the size of a resource
Horizontal - increasing/decreasing the number of copies of a resource
What are the 3 types of Compute services?
IaaS
PaaS
SaaS
What does IaaS stand for?
Infrastructure as a Service
What does PaaS stand for?
Platform as a Service
What does SaaS stand for?
Software as a Service
