Role of police
Protect- protect the public, stop and search, police on the streets etc
Prevent- stop and search, community policing, campaigns ie bin the blade, blue light discos etc
Investigate- find out who has committed a crime, CCTV, statement and witnesses
Maintain law and order- keeping people acting sensibly, presence at football games
What are custodial sentences and non custodial sentences
Custodial= prison, when people go into prison, almost all serve violence crimes are taken to prison
Non-custodial= when People don’t go into prison but have other alternatives Community payback order, Restriction of Liberty order, Drug treatment and testing order
