Decision
Tell FO, this what we need at least 2700 m runway, CAT1, with good weather. this is what we have, weather, type of approach. What is the safe and best for us which has a plan B?
Assign
FO to fly to destination, maintain speed and altitude, tell ATC we are diverting and ask advice the company, setup the box for FO to fly, brief Cabin crew, PA to passengers.
- prepare cabin for landing
- Make a briefing to FO about HOW and plan B
- what we need from ATC: 15 NM final. 3000ft, on the ground assistance
- APPR checklist
Review
Did we miss anything? Has anything changed? Is our plan still valid? Did we do checklist? What is our available FOB

Navigate
Above MSA, or climb above Select SPD, VS Away from weather, terrain, other traffic Towards suitable airports? Hold PPOS?
What is the Commanders role?
To manage workload, situational awareness, prioritization, decision making and cooperation and direct FO and others, keep,in mind: plane-path-people. Use others to reduce your workload.
Do it in blocks, the most important first and then move to next.
