• the purpose of this piece is to engage the reader in the life of Brian and how he was able to overcome his grief following the loss of his daughter
• I have been inspired to write this piece by Catherine Cole’s piece ‘Home’
• I successfully embedded the notion of overcoming ones loss within my piece
• successfully portrayed ones longing for stability in the same way Ahmed sought emotional stability
• Ahmed loosing his wife Feroza to cancer is paralleled with my piece by which Brian looses his daughter Mary to leukaemia
• motif of the moon in my text parallels the motif of the gravesite in home
• utilised emotive language in order to connect with the audience emotionally
• I have been able to accomplish this task to a great level as I was able to show the emotional progression of Brian and how he was able to overcome his daughters’ death
• through this, the reader is able to reflect personally and formulate renewed perceptions of growth.
