Mod 6 - Oximetry, Hemoximetry Flashcards
1
Q
What is spectrophotometry?
A
Spectrophotometry:
The science that uses light wavelengths to measure light absorption through a substance.
The two main wavelengths that are used in photo oximetry are:
Red light – wavelength of 660 nm
Infrared light – wavelength of 940 mm

Q
What two physical principals is pulse oximetry based on?
A
Spectrophotometry Optical plethysmography (photoelectric plethysmography)
