mod 4 Flashcards
Necrosis
Death of cells in an organ that can turn black and fall off (necrosis of the finger black fingertips)
Necrobiosis
Death of cells in tissue (tumor)
Agonal Algor
Cooling/Decrease in body temperature PRIOR/BEFORE death
Agonal Fever
Increase in the body temperature PRIOR/BEFORE death
Agonal Hypostasis
blood settling into the dependent tissues in the body (circulation of the body stops/slows and blood starts to clot)
Agonal Moisture Changes
A decrease in the amount of moisture, or fluids, in the body cavities
Translocation
The movement of something from one space to another
Tissue Gas
Caused by decomposition the gas can form bubbles and blisters in tissues.
Algor Mortis
Cooling of the body AFTER death (2nd stage of death)
Hypostasis
The accumulation of fluid and blood in the lower body parts or organs under the influence of gravity
Viscosity
A measure of how much force it takes to move a fluid across a given space.
Livor Mortis
A blue-purplish-red coloration that appears on the body as a result of the settling of blood under the force of gravity
Dehydration
The loss or removal of water from something
Postmortem Caloricity
The rise in temperature AFTER death due to continued cellular metabolism
Postmortem Stain
Blush-reddish-purplish discoloration due to heme getting into the vessel walls and body tissues
